CRIM 625 - Crisis Leadership
This course analyzes leadership theories and approaches appropriate for a wide range of crisis management activities. Leadership during a crisis requires strong critical thinking skills, a large reservoir of intellectual creativity, an ability to remain calm in a chaotic environment, a keen sense of cultural sensitivity toward the many publics affected by a crisis, and other skill sets different from those required to be successful under routine non-critical conditions. This course will examine leadership before and during a crisis at the administrative level as well as for first responders on-scene using the Incident Command System (ICS). Cross-listed with EMGT 625. Three credit hours.
